After a sound introduction to principles, methods, and tools of GIScience for spatial analysis and decision-making in Urban and Regional Planning, this Course exposes students to planning theories and sustainability principles, in order to develop a reference framework to design and manage sustainable spatial planning processes and environmental impact assessment (EIA/SEA). Along the course, special attention is given to the integration of Information and Communication Technology and GIS as spatial planning support- and Planning Support Systems, PSS- according an underlying Geodesign approach.
