Degree awarded

 
The Masters degrees awarded as part of this dual degree program are recognized individually as Masters level graduate degrees in the EU and the US. George Mason University has offered its Masters degree program in GEography and CArtography (GECA) since 1978, while the University of Cagliari is starting its Masters degree program in Geographic Information and Environmental Planning Support (GIEPS) from the 2010/11 academic year.

The Consortium GISESP plans for the exchange of 48 fellowholder students over four years. Student mobility is planned to occur from the second to the last academic year. Eight US students will attend the program at UniCA and BBK-UL each year for a total of 24 US students over four years. Mutually, 24 EU students will attend the program at George Mason University, USA, at eight students per year.
