Sabrina Lai

 
Civil engineer, she earned her PhD in City and Regional Planning at the University of Cagliari (Italy) in 2009, and is Master of Science in International Planning and Development (School of City and Regional Planning, Cardiff University, UK, 2007). Since 2005 she has been Teaching Assistant for the courses of Engineering of the Territory and of Regional and Urban Planning at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Cagliari, where she teaches GIS for planners at both the graduate and the undergraduate level.

In the past, she worked both for public bodies and for private companies on the following areas: urban planning, regional planning, cartography, cadastral maps, GIS. She is currently working in the Department of the Environment of the Sardinian Regional Administration, where she deals with various tasks related to planning and management of protected areas, and in particular of sites belonging to the European Natura 2000 Network, such as: assessment of management plans, preparation of guidance documents on plans for protected areas, ex-ante evaluation of projects, coordination of transnational projects on ecological networks, preparation of tenders and of calls for proposals, updating of the Sardinian Natura 2000 Database.

She has delivered presentations at various international conferences and has published approximately 25 papers, mostly co-authored, mainly on planning support systems (GIS, multicriteria analysis, rough set analysis).
