Germana Manca

 
Dr Manca, (BA 1993 university of Perugia, Postgrad 1995 equivalent to a MA Agronomic Institute for Oversea, Ministery of Foreign Affairs, Ph.D 1999 University of Sassari) Assistant Professor at Geography and Geospatial Department, is an Associate Coordinator of Earth System Science M.S. program. She is also a member of the Recruitment Committee.

She currently teaches GIS courses at the undergraduate and graduate level, in GIS for the environment, Socioeconomic GIS and Applied GIS. She has 13 years of broad professional experience in the field of Geographic Information Science (GISci). She has performed as the Inspector of Italian National Priority Layers and of Regional Geodatabases. She has operated as an Information Technology (IT) director for Geographic Information Systems (GIS) at the national level.

She has had extensive experience on an international level, through her collaborations with the National Center for Geographic Information & Analysis (NCGIA) at the University of California, Santa Barbara, at the Center for Advanced Studies, Research and Development in Sardinia (CRS4), and at the Italian National Research Center (CNR). She was the primary Project Developer for the Sardinian Environmental Historical Geopark and has acted as a geoinformation consultant for universities and government. She has published papers, book chapters and conference papers.
