Il Collegio di Dottorato ritiene che la realizzazione di programmi di cotutela consistenti nell’elaborazione di tesi sotto la direzione congiunta di un docente del Collegio dei Docenti e di un docente di una università dell’Unione Europea sia uno strumento formativo importante ed efficace che, attraverso la mobilità dei dottorandi, favorisce in essi la consapevolezza di appartenere a una comunità scientifica transnazionale.
La cotutela di tesi sarà di norma attuata a favore dei dottorandi iscritti al primo anno di corso e il relativo programma sarà supportato da una convenzione che specifica i termini dell’accordo in conformità alla normativa locale e nazionale.
Il Corso di Dottorato In Scienze e tecnologie chimiche ha sipulato diversi accordi di co-tutela con università in Francia, Germania e Spagna.

In the framework of the PhD programs, UNICA and UNISS encourages the mobility of PhD students giving the possibility to spend a part of their curse abroad.
Joint supervision of a thesis (co-tutelle de these)
PhD students may carry out their doctoral course and their research projects in part in a foreign country institution and in part in the University of Cagliari, under the joint supervision of thesis.
A specific agreement will be signed between the two Institutions, and at the end of the program the student will be awarded a double-degree acknowledged from both partners. Doctoral students covered by the joint supervision procedure, work under the direction and responsibility of a thesis supervisor in each of the two Institutions involved in the agreement. Up today the Italian Conferenza dei Rettori delle Università Italiane (CRUI) has signed joint declaration on bi-nationally supervised doctoral thesis agreements with France, Spain, Germany, and Switzerland.
According to University regulations, PhD students may ask for an increase of 50% of the scholarship, for periods of research carried out abroad.
At national level the Ministry for university and research has established several bilateral programmes with France, Spain and Germany to support PhD students international mobility.
