Gabriele Pedrini is a Ph.D. student in “History, Institutions and International Relations of Contemporary Asia and Africa” and will attend a GlobusDoc internship at the Institute for Palestine Studies (مؤسسة الدراسات الفلسطينية – Arabic website) in its headquarters located in Beirut (Lebanon), starting from 1st March 2014 until June 2014.

The internship will be under the supervision of Dr. Maher Charif and with the following tasks:
– Participate in seminars and conferences and write synopsis for the Institute website
– Participate in the preparation and organization of conferences
– Draft proposals
– Draft and edit material for the Center for Information and documentation at the Institute
– Assistance to Research Department

Dr. Michal Zajicek is a specialist in Obstetrics, Gynecology and Ultrasound. She currently works at Obstetrics and Gynecology Ultrasound Unit at the Chaim Sheba Medical Center, Tel-Hashomer, Israel affiliated to the Tel-Aviv University. She performs ultrasound examinations to identify potential obstetrical or fetal problems and provide clinically relevant diagnoses of gynecologic diseases. She also takes part in clinical research projects at her department and published some papers in  international peer-reviewed journals. She is highly interested in expanding the field of Ultrasound of Endometriosis and as Distinguished Visiting Staff Member she will stay at the University of Cagliari from 24th March to 4th April, participating in a research of the learning curve of evaluation of 3D volumes of Deep Infiltrating Endometriosis .

Blaine Nelson is currently a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Potsdam, Germany. He previously was a post-doctoral research fellow at the University of Tübingen, Germany and completed his doctoral studies at the University of California, Berkeley. His research focuses on learning algorithms particularly in the context of security-sensitive application domains. He investigates the vulnerability of learning to security threats and how resilient learning techniques can mitigate such security threats. He was a co-chair of the ACM Workshop on Artificial Intelligence and Security in 2012 and 2013 and he was a co-organizer of a Dagstuhl Workshop entitled “Machine Learning Methods for Computer Security” in 2012.

As Distinguished Visiting Scholar he will be at the University of Cagliari (Pra Lab, DIEE) from 1st to 31st March 2014.

9 December 2013: Mauro Pala – “Configuración de identidades e impactos de las corriesntes migratoria en literatura”;

Visiting student YU GUAN will collaborate with the University of Cagliari in the period 2-15 December 2013. He will visit the Pattern Recognition and Applications Lab (PRA Lab, Director Fabio Roli) at the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering.

He is PhD Candidate at the University of Warwick in Coventry, Department of Computer Science, Digital Forensic Lab.

RAQUEL SANZ, MSc degree in Electrical Engineering at the Mondragon Universitatea (Basque Country, Spain), will spend six months from December 2013 at the Department of Electrical And Electronic Engineering of the University of Cagliari.

As a research fellow she will work with the Pattern Recognition and Applications Lab (PRA Lab, Director Fabio Roli) within the funding programme ‘Global Training Fellow’ for graduates from the Basque Country.
