Health Care

In Italy in case of emergency anyone regardless of his/her nationality and registration with  National Health Service (Servizio Sanitario Nazionale – S.S.N.) is entitled to access to free primary care at hospitals and Emergency Rooms.

If you are going to stay in Cagliari for more than three months you can register with the Italian National Health Service (Servizio Sanitario Nazionale – S.S.N.), and choose a General Practitioner and Pediatrician. Your family members can benefit from your Italian National Health Service coverage.

As for any administrative procedure, we support you during the application, and provide you with the documents required.

After your registration, the Local Health Authority (Azienda Sanitaria Locale – ASL) send you by post your Health Insurance Card (Tessera Sanitaria) at your address in Cagliari. You should remember to write your name on your door bell and mail-box.

For European researchers the registration lasts one year, for non-EU researchers it has the same duration as their permit of stay.
