Mehran Taghipour Gorjikolaie – Visiting PhD Student
Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering
Mehran Taghipour-Gorjikolaie was born in Sari (Sary), Mazandaran, Iran on the 16th of September in 1986. He received the B.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Mazandaran (in Iran) in 2008 and his M.Sc. degree in Electronic Engineering with honors in 2011 from the University of Birjand (in Iran). He is pursuing his Ph.D. in Electronic Engineering in the University of Birjand from 2011.
Since January of 2015 he starts working with PRA lab in Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering in the University of Cagliari (in Italy) as visitor research on Multimodal Biometric Systems.
He is interested in application of pattern recognition techniques and optimization algorithms in other fields, such as:
Fault detection in protecting systems in power system
Optimal design of electrical machines
But now in the Ph.D. he works on new application which is called Biometrics.
He serves as a reviewer in many IEEE conferences and is one of the reviewers of Swarm Evolutionary Computation journal. He was publication-chair in PRIA2013 (IEEE Conference). Now, he is a constant member of Iranian Society of Machine Vision and Image Processing (ISMVIP).
