The Molecular and Translational Medicine graduate program at UNICA aims to provide students with a high level research experience, complemented by a range of stimulating academic and training activities. <\/span>Excellent mentorship is the cornerstone of Ph.D. training. <\/span>The overall goal is to empower students with the essential skills to pursue a distinguished career in biological and\/or medical sciences, either in research institutions or in the biotech industry.<\/span><\/p>\n

Molecular and Translational Medicine @UNICA welcomes students from a variety of educational backgrounds. Working in a truly multidisciplinary environment, students carry out their research in one of more than 20 Faculty<\/span><\/a><\/span> research laboratories headed by well-established Italian and international scientists.<\/span><\/p>\n

Two main tracks, each one encompassing a broad spectrum of interests and research objectives, are offered:<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2666 Molecular Oncology and Pathology<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

PhD Students in the molecular oncology and pathology track investigate genetic\/epigenetic alterations and molecular epidemiology of solid and ematologic cancers, cancer biomarkers of diagnostic and prognostic value, genes involved in the pathogenesis of rare genetic diseases, molecular mechanisms of neurodegeneration, molecular interactions of pathogens with the host. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u2666 <\/span>Nutritional and Metabolic Sciences<\/span><\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

PhD Students in the nutritional and metabolic sciences track investigate molecular mechanisms of neuronal and endocrine systems, consequences of deficiencies of specific nutrients or supplement on the functionality of peripheral systems and CNS, impact of dietary habits and physical activity in terms of neurologic, endocrinologic, gastroenterologic, gynecologic and cardiologic disorders.<\/span><\/p>\n
