Il Prof. Luigi RAFFO è professore ordinario di elettronica presso il Dipartimento di Ingegneria Elettrica ed Elettronica. Presso l’Università degli Studi di Genova ha conseguito la laurea in ingegneria elettronica (1989) e il dottorato di ricerca in Elettronica ed Informatica (1994). Dal 1994 è all’Università degli Studi di Cagliari prima come ricercatore universitario, poi dal 1998 come professore associato e infine dal 2006 come professore ordinario. Impartisce corsi sulla progettazione elettronica sia digitale che analogica per i corsi di laurea in Ingegneria Elettrica, Elettronia ed Informatica e Ingegneria Biomedica.
Dal 2006 al 2012 è stato presidente del Corso di Studi in Ingegneria Biomedica, dal settembre 2017 a Giugno 2018 ne è Coordinatore.
Dal 2012 è delegato del Rettore in materia di progetti di ricerca internazionale.

La sua ricerca verte principalmente sulla progettazione di dispositivi e sistemi elettronici per applicazioni sia in ambito biomedicale che in tutti i settori dove sono richieste elevate prestazioni e bassa dissipazione di potenza. In tale settore è autore di circa 200 pubblicazioni internazionali e tre brevetti internazionali.

Ha coordinato i seguenti progetti internazionali

  2. FP7-ICT-248424 – MADNESS: Methods for predictAble Design of heterogeNeous Embedded System with adaptivity and reliability Support

Come responsabile per UniCA ha partecipato/partecipa a diversi progetti nazionali (PRIN), regionali (LR7), industriali (STmicroelectronics), è responsabile del progetto INSIEME: INtelligent Systems for Integrated hEalth ManagEment” – finanziamento a valere sull’Asse I, Azione 1.1.3 PON Imprese e competitività 2014 – 2020.

Prof. Luigi RAFFO is full professor of Electronics at the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering – University of Cagliari (ITALY). He received the “laurea degree” in Electronic Engineering at University of Genoa (ITALY) in 1989, the PhD degree in Electronics and Computer Science at the same university in 1994. In 1994 he joined the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering of University of Cagliari (ITALY) as assistant professor, in 1998 as associate professor and from 2006 as full professor of electronics. He teaches courses on system/digital and analog electronic design and processor architectures for the Courses of studies in Electronic and Biomedical Engineering. From 2006 to 2012 he was President of the Course of Studies in Biomedical Engineering. From 2012 he is the Delegate for European Projects of University of Cagliari
He is coordinator of the project EU IST-248424 MADNESS – Methods for predictAble Design of heterogeNeous Embedded System with adaptivity andreliability Support. He is unit coordinator of the project ARTEMIS-ASAM. He was coordinator of the project EU IST-FET – IST-2001-39266 – BEST and  unit coordinator of the project EU-IST-FET – SHAPES – Scalable Software Hardware Architecture Platform for Embedded Systems.He has been local coordinator of industrial projects in the field (among others: ST-Microelectronics –- Extension of ST200 architecture for ARM binary compatibility, ST-Microelectronics –- Network on chip). He has been responsible for cooperation programs in the field of embedded systems with several other European Universities.

His research focus is on the design of electronic devices and system for application both in the biomedical field and in several fields where high performances and low power dissipation are required. In such a field he is author of about 200 international publications and three international patents.

He was local general coordinator of the following international projects:
