Oxygenic photosynthesis is a key biochemical process that sustains the life on our planet by providing the biosphere with oxygen and sugars. Photosynthesis takes place by the coordinated activity of different photosynthetic protein complexes. Among them, Photosystem II (PSII) plays a pivotal role. PSII is a membrane protein complex that occurs under different oligomeric states in thylakoid membranes. In our studies, we isolated PSII from Nicotiana tabacum to characterise its oligomeric states in order to identify functional and structural differences.
