|Titolo:||On implementing a two-step map matching process of Gps-based data on a GIS platform|
|Data di pubblicazione:||2012|
|Abstract:||This work develops a methodology for converting large GPS-based da- tabases into observed daily routes. In particular, the presented application aims at contributing to the existing research on map matching procedures, proposing a computationally rapid method that can be implemented using any GIS platform. The performance of a two-step map matching process, in terms of number of positioning points allocated in each step and number of trip segments simulated on a pre-existing network at the end of the entire procedure, is tested. In this work we analyze a GPS-based database of 7012 routes, collected using a personal probe system called “Activity Locator” over a period of two weeks, on a sample of 79 individuals from Cagliari Metropolitan area. The results indicate that the proposed topological ap- proach yields high performance in terms of number of converted routes.|
