Barbara Pes obtained her laurea degree in Physics from the University of Cagliari (Italy) in 2001. From 2002 to 2005 she collaborated with the Database and Data Mining Group at the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, University of Cagliari. Since 2006 she has been working as Assistant Professor (Ricercatore Universitario) at the Faculty of Science, University of Cagliari, where she teaches/taught Foundations of Computer Science, Database and Data Mining courses. She is author of more than 50 papers published in international conferences, books and journals. Her research interests include Distributed Information Systems, Data Integration, Data Mining and Knowledge Discovery in Databases, Feature Selection, Classification of High-dimensional Data, Bio-informatics. She participated in the CyberSAR project for the implementation of a Grid infrastructure supporting the research activity of the Universities and the Research Centers in Sardinia. She has been also involved in the DENIS (Dataspaces Enhancing Next Internet in Sardinia) project, funded by RAS, and in the Security Horizons project, funded by MIUR.
